I studied carving at South Dorset Technical College in 1981.
Finding stone to be the natural media to use producing relief carvings, a portrait bust, coat’s of arms.
Then served an apprenticeship in Stonemasonry with Chichester Cathedral Works Organisation.
I was entered into and won four regional competitions and ultimately a Gold Medal in Skill Build.
Moving on to London in order to carve and continue to work with some of the country’s leading artisans and working for some of the UK’s most prestigious buildings such as Hampton Court, Windsor Castle and Blenheim Palace.
My work has taken me to the USA and Europe carving on Carnegie Mellon University amongst other historic buildings.
I have since been involved with training apprentices and am a accredited NVQ assessor. I work well with people, within a team, or managing them.
I have worked in the administrative side of the stone industry as a draughtsman, estimator and contracts manager.
I have a workshop close to my home in the South of England where I continue to carve and cut stone using traditional methods to the highest of standards. |
